MTC September 2021: 10 blocks for 10 years of MX

Welcome to the ManiaExchange Monthly Track Contest (MTC) for September 2021! eyebo is your host for the month.
In the MTC, your mission is to build a map on a given theme. Later, all the maps are rated and a winner is found.

We continue the 10th anniversary celebrations of MX this month.

Theme of the Month: 10 blocks for 10 years of MX

Select 10 blocks from the editor and build a map with them.

    Theme Specific Rules
    • All variants (ground, air, etc) within a block count as 1 block. So use as many as you like.
    • Custom blocks and items are allowed. Each custom block or item counts as 1 block.
    • Start, Checkpoints, and 1 Finish are excluded from the 10 block limit. Same goes for these type of items.
    • Terraforming does not count towards the 10 block limit, even if you drive on it.
    • Clip remover custom blocks do not count towards the block limit
    • There are some free blocks for signs and scenery. (see full list later in this topic)
    • Only base TM2 titles and TMAll titlepack are allowed
    • Write in your author comments which 10 blocks were used (e.g. 1-1-1, 1-1-2, etc.)

    General Rules
    • You may submit a maximum of two maps
    • Duo maps are allowed, but each map counts as one map for each author involved
    • MTC should be present in the track name. Example: "Limited Expression (MTC)" or "mtc|myOwnSimpleEditor"
    • The map should be built in the most recent version of the game
    • Maps must be built during the month of this MTC and uploaded after the theme is announced
    • Blockmixing, embedded items, and mods are allowed
    • Press Forward, Left, Right, or similar tracks are NOT allowed
    • Maps requiring drivers to use OpenPlanet are NOT allowed

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

    Deadlines
    • Your map should be uploaded before the end of September 30th at midnight EDT. Submissions will continue to be accepted until I officially announce closure in this thread.
    • Maps submitted within the deadline will have 24 hours after submissions close to make any edits
    • Public voting is from October 2nd to October 9th or until the internal judging is finished, whichever occurs later
    • Results are calculated and posted soon after public voting closes

    Prizes
:gold: Honor and the right to brag! (Jozii used to say that.)
:gold: The top 3 winners will receive a front page feature of a track of their choice
    :gold: 1st - 30 €
    :silver: 2nd - 15 €
    :bronze: 3rd - 5 €.
Please note: The cash prizes may only be won by players 18 years or older.

    How to Submit
    • You MUST upload your track to this mappack and optionally post a link to your map in this thread
    • You can update your map within the deadline as many times as you want
    • Submitted maps may be updated within 24 hours of submissions closing, in case of any necessary last minute changes; new maps may NOT be submitted in this time frame
    • Updating your map after the revision deadline has passed will lead to a disqualification. You are free to update your map once the results are published

    Judging: Public and Internal
We will use a mixture of 75/25 between internal judging and public voting if there is 1 public voter, 60/40 for 2, and 50/50 for 3+
    • Everyone is allowed to judge, even players who submitted a map (your score on your own map won't be counted)
    • Every map will be judged with marks from 0 (bad) to 10 (good). All votes greater than/equal to 7 or less than/equal to 4 require constructive feedback on why you gave it that score
    • Note that you have to judge a map entirely! You cannot judge only half of it. If you are not able to finish a map, your vote can still count! Please only leave that as a very last resort, and judge the entire map fairly
    • You must play and vote on all maps for your votes to count
    • You need to verify your vote by making a post here (for example: "Voted :done:")
    • One best and one worst vote for each map will be ignored if more than 10 people vote
    • The internal judging will note some detailed feedback with points based on categories:
      (Theme [20p], Creativity [10p], Fun [10p], Detail [10p])

Good luck, and if you have any questions, please ask!

How about blocks only used to remove pillars/supports (e.g. canyon 2-1-2 or 2-1-5)--are those also no-cost (like no-clip blocks) if not ever touched by the player?

[Edit: Actually, I just figured out a way to optimize my block usage and eliminate the need for them. Someone else might want an answer though. :)]

[Edit2: Terraforming is free...but does that include the "block" that introduces terrain variation? What about the other similar blocks that don't technically change terrain, but add trees, etc? (e.g. canyon 10-1-*) ]

Hi pjw, no. 2-1-2 and 2-5-2 count towards the limit. But you can use terraforming and HD variants to remove pillars. But I'm guessing you wanted to do that already, based on your edited question.

Here's an update to the rules with the full list of free blocks that can be used for scenery & signs.

Additional free blocks for scenery & signs.

However, if any of them are driven on, they count towards the 10 block limit.

I'm confused. Does using 10 blocks mean you can use 10 types of block and then place those as many times as you like or that you can only place 10 blocks on your map? I'm asking because I've tested some of the maps and none of them seem to respect the rule as I understood it ( only place 10 blocks on the map pretty much like in Edge's one block mapping contest )

Well I didn't understand that but I guess my maps still works since it uses 10 types of block placed only once

There's plenty of time left to make changes or additions if you want. :)
