I could as well put up some bands. In no specific order.
Mats/Morgan Band - It's amazing. Fusion jazz, and you can't find something like this anywhere else. It's just mindblowing stuff, though it's really complex and even avant-gardeish at times, so everyone might not like it. I haven't met too many who think their music is bad though
This is one of my favorites from them:
If I only had a clavinet
Halcyon - Well, people who watched the thread in TMUFX probably now that I'm totally crazy about this band.
They are a progressive fusion metal band. Their music... it is inspirational, technical, beautiful, creative... all in all pretty much perfection. And I don't say this often about music. I really love them and plan to do some guitar covers of them. Check
Noodle 3 out, it's excellent.
Amogh Symphony - Another amazing progressive metal project. It's lead by Vishal J. Singh, and he does everything himself - from turntables to flutes, and from drums programming to guitars. And damn. He's an amazing guitarist. I never heard anyone play with such passion. And his riffs are just mindblowing. He is a god. Check this out:
Osiris 1
Animals As Leaders - Yet another progressive metal band
Tosin Abasi is also a god, the way he uses the 8-string guitar is phenomenal. AAL is a must-listen if you are into progressive metal, trust me - you need to listen to a song for a few times before you fall in love with it, but it's seriously worth it.
Song of Solomon
The Faceless - It's hard to describe. I guess it's technical death metal in the end, but despite of their early In Flames -influences, The Faceless has found a totally unique sound. I loved their album "Planetary Duality" - it's really diverse and the riffs are always awesome. I had a blast training this one with the guitar:
Xenochrist
Soilwork - I've loved them since I was something like... 14. And they only keep getting better; the new album is pure epicness! The vocals sound awesome, guitar work is impressive. The best part though... the drums. Dirk Verbeuren is my all-time favorite drummer. He's just so tight and groovy. Doesn't lack speed either. If you've listened to Aborted, Sybreed, Devin Townsend's newest album, Scarve you have also listened to his drumming. Just to name a few bands.
Late For The Kill, Early For The Slaughter is awesome.
Scarve - Another project where Dirk is involved. It's technical death metal or something. It has quite a unique sound as well. Beautiful music by talented musicians - I really like them.
Mirthless Perspectives
Keep Of Kalessin - Symphonic black metal. Inspirational stuff. The members of the band are amazingly talented. Vyl is a beast on the drums (his stamina is unbelievable), Thebon's vocals sound amazing, Wizziac can really handle the bass and Obsidian C. is the tightest rythm guitarist I've ever heard.
Armada is some 2005 material from them. Epic.
I'll continue the list later...
