Hmmm to much rules.. and at the end you'll get a track that's been touched by 7 - 8 people
this has nothing to do with MTC imo..
you had 2 months to think about this contest.. but yet there where no rules about blockmixing..
now you changed the rules by not allowing blockmix and you have to look for this rule on the 2nd page..
we also have no clue about the copper rate in the editor.. you need to save the track in order to see how much coppers you got.
you could have thought about this sooner.. now every participant needs to scroll down the endless questions in this topic in order to know the exact rules about this contest..
I know it's not easy to host a contest like this..
try to make a mod topic a week infront so other moderators can fine tune the rules before you officially open it.
those where my 5 cents
THINK its not illegal yet

@Zipperke: the concept has been done 4 times already in the other Trackmania games, with great success and popularity. BASCO 4 on TMU is to this date still the most fun TM-contest I have ever entered. I recommend you to have a go at the competition anyways, if not right now then at least on stage 3 or 4. Creating one's own continuing of another's map is often very inspiring.

Oh, and about the coppers: look in the upper right corner of the editor. Below your name, there's a number -- your current copper count.

hey guys !
I know somebody asked it before me, but I ask it again:
Can I upload a track with 10s-10:99s or only with 10s?

and: do we have to do a screeny?

All this blah and bleh...

I think you should not have it named MTC, but just BASCO. Cause maybe next time people expect BASCO and get a different MTC.. :) *(lol)
I mean BASCO and MTC are 2 separate things. But my opinion is obsolete off course.

Then on another note: Yes I;m not a fan of mixing. And no I do NOT hate it. (as opposed to what many, many people think...) But if the rules state: NO BLOCK-MIXING, then there is no discussion, I think, wheter to use it or not.

Basicly, there should always be 2 types on contests. At the same time. As in:
"MTC: Build a track of 15s long and it must contain at least one wall-ride"
-2 contests:
-1 with block-mixing
-1 without block-mixing.

And then in the end, pick the best out of the best number ones :)

Just to give people who do not mix, an equal chance.

If you want to start a flame war, state it and you can have it. But as far is a recall, this is a topic to discuss the rules (...)
If you build a small mountain on one side of your driving line, to get a nice visual feedback, i feel like this section should be protected and "not" be deleted because it's in the way of the later stages. (...)

Actually, yes, I'm very upset about the whole organization of MTC for Canyon, and I am adding certain emotional flavor to my posts as a consequence of this.

I'm upset about blockmixing, I'm upset about a bias which I subjectively feel in the judgements being passed. I apologize, I should try to tone it down more.

The part of your post about Mountain casting a shadow across the stage you've just built is a nice illustration of a larger problem in competition tracks (or at least of something I consider to be a larger problem):

Even though it's called BUILD A STAGE COMPETITION, builders approach it as if they were building a full-blown track.
You are not building a full-blown track that will be your own. You are contributing to a community track and your objective is to build as great 10 seconds of racing as possible. That's where it should stop, unfortunately, organizers made the decision to promote adding "scenery" as part of the stages as well.

All of these problems could be avoided if we focused on building the track.

I would like MTC and BASCO to return to the original purpose of offering a chance to builders both new and famous to get a little spotlight on them. Instead, it is turning into Photoshop/Blockmixing/Custom Music/Custom Mods elite club where the more fancy stuff you can add to your track, the higher your score is, even if it means your track is a 12000 coppers monster which lags on most PCs.

Are you absolutely sure this is the right way to go? How will this benefit the community?

@zipperke:

We just forgot a rule for blockmixing. But it's not the end of the world if rules get clarified on the first day of the contest, is it?. Nobody is perfect. And besides, I've added the blockmixing rule as well as the required scenery in the first two posts of this thread. So you don't have to read any of the responses here and you know what to do ;)

@all:

The title of the thread has changed. It's "BASCO" now instead of "MTC - BASCO" :p

Right!
I can also understand your point concerning scenery. However, I still find it better to do race and scenery together. But I'm sure there will be another BASCO someday, and then we can take care of all those suggestions (y)

@KekX
As the block mixing was forbidden after i uploaded my map, can you please delete it? I created a version without blockmix now :)

@Alcator
I completely understand your frustration :)

@DaKKoN
Feel the same. There should be always two competitions but i guess it might be to hard to find enough judges for it -_-

hmm... got a start that I'm quite happy about actually, but I'm about to use it in a full track of mine; can we use the start that we've submitted ourselves (so no stealing) for other own tracks? or only if it doesn't get chosen? :)
