BASCO 2012 - Stage 1 [Results on page 11!]
Welcome to the first ManiaExchange BASCO!

BASCO = 'Build A Stage' Competition.

Rules

Please read the general information, the required steps and the schedule thoroughly ;)

General information:

The BASCO will be run over the next 6 weeks. In the first week, you build the beginning of a map (the first 10 seconds). Then, you upload this track to a special MX user whose tracks cannot be downloaded. The judges choose the best track and building continues with this track. Anyone is invited anyone to download the track at the weekend, delete the finish line and build 10 seconds of additional track, validate, and upload to MX. Afterwards, the judges choose the best track again, and so on... In the end, will have a six-stages-track which is built by 6 users.

Taking part requires you do the following:

1. Download the latest version of 'the track so far' (a link is provided each weekend). Note: For the first stage (first week), you can just start from a blank start!
2. Delete the finish piece (and if necessary, 1 piece of road that only existed to make laying the finish possible).
3. But do not delete or change any other part of the track layout. You are not allowed to move the track.
4. You can modify landscape as necessary, just don’t change the driving experience of a previous stage. From Stage 3 on: Please put at least one respawnable CP into your part. Every CP you set up must be respawnable.
5. Build your idea for the next stage of the track, adding about 10 seconds to the validation time.
6. The coppers limit per stage is +1000 to the old value. If the map has a value of x coppers, the track can have x+1000 coppers after you have added your part. Do not use more than 1000 for your part. This includes scenery!
7. Do not add intro or outro MT to the track because there will be a MediaTracker competition when the building stages are over.
8. Validate and save your track with your name on the end, e.g. S1-YourMXLogin (S1 = "Stage 1").
9. Upload the track to MX using the BASCO 2012 account. The password is basco2012.
10. Only one submission per stage per MX user!

Further Restrictions:
Blockmixing is not allowed.

The Schedule
Weekend Submissions threads will open by 20:00 CET each Friday at the latest.

After the weekend is over we will lock the submissions thread and during Monday to Friday the judges will pick which submission will be the next stage of the track.

Then by Friday evening (or sooner) we will upload the track again with the stage identifier increased by 1, i.e. S2-...
The process then begins again, a submissions thread for the next stage will open.

Can you submit an entry if you won a stage already?
No, once you win a stage, you have to sit back and let others compete for the remaining stages. If you win a stage, you will be invited to join the judges!

Judging:
The tracks will be judged by members of the MX crew, chuckie, and the winners of the stages (if they are interested).

Is block-mixing allowed if it is used in a good way? I mean without creation of flickering textures, without creation of invisible edges and so on. If we don't use it on the driving section, can we use it on the scenery,if the answer is yes?

OH YES!

EDIT: What about blockmixing? Allowed or not?
IMHO, it kinda spoils the challenge of building by the terms of the previous builder. Besides, it might make life difficult for the next builder or at least create a huge disadvantage for non-mixers when it comes to overall flow from one part to another if some are mixed and others aren't
