More Track Styles?

Driving the two of them is pretty similar. Right? Am i missing something huge here? :s

Yes they are similar in some way, and on some trial tracks you could do exactly that, and it would be a RPG, but that's not the point. They look very different from each other because of this, but when you're building RPG, you're building somewhat realistic. Trial only needs you to place a few floating blocks in the air. Trial also lacks the atmosphere you have on a RPG, like getting the feeling of driving in an entirely different environment. I can agree that the driving style might be comparable, but they're also very different. Trial only focuses on doing really hard stunts to get from a to b and are mainly shorter compared to RPG. RPG focuses more on doing some hard stunts, but there's is a bigger variety, some spots you might only be required to drive almost straight forward only to get a glimpse of the scenery and getting to know the story.

Occam has done a very good job explaining the difference too, might want to read that too if you're still in doubt.

The point is, no they're not the same, there is a reason we have always had trial-only servers and RPG-only servers, and RPG and trial-servers. There's a few, but they're the exceptions, it's like you might not want to mix fullspeed and technical maps on a server if you want to practice one style.

tl;dr - Separating RPG and trial will make it easier for everyone, imo. =)

I have to agree so sort of Drift Style needs adding ;)

I agree with al saying Drift.

Drift is somewhere in-between tech and fullspeed without if being speed tech.

New Names

Multi Lap "for more than 1 lap tracks" short named "Laps" :d
Dirt "for offroad racing where your build is over 60% offroad" :d
Platform "where you must jump from 1 block to another" thinking that would fall into Tech mmm ;)
lol "just dam crazy tracks" lol =p
Stunt "also that mite fall into Tech ;)
Pure Boost Speed "where there is alot of boost's been used may also fall into speed tech" short named "Boost" :d
RPG "story and none story tracks of the RPG builds" ;)
*Drift/Slider to be honest i think Drift should be on the list as we all know what Drift is about going sideways as long as we can...now if you say thats tech...then i think it could get mixed up with things like you need tech to get from one block to another thats tech skill yes add the Drift load please, for tracks where the builder is trying to make a point, this build is for drifting not pure racing, drift falls into its own skill, thats why you see the sport
on tv now Drift Racing, not tech racing thats normaly things like in between cones/parking etc just trying to make a point on the word Drift short named "Drift" :)

Is there a reason that full speed, drift, and tech, the hot topics of late, have been omitted from your list? :p

Let's not have too much overlap, shall we?

Fullspeed (Ganjarider style: no sliding, high speed)
Speedtech (drifting is assumed)
Tech (slow, compact drifting)
Competition (easy tracks intended for online racing where players of widely varying skill have only 5 minutes to not just reach the finish but do so without major fails. As it is, server owners have no way to find good online tracks so they end up with difficult BotW tracks or junk).
Novelty (gimmick tracks that are still about racing and not luck or tricks, eg offroad tracks or ovals)
LOL
RPG
Trial
Stunt

nice summary (y) just two things:
* would rename Competition to Hunting, even if it's the same^^
* add PX.

I would not include a 'competiton' style. You say that its purpose is to help server administrators find good tracks for their servers. I think the result of this will be that a lot of tracks will show up as competition style when they really aren't because the author is looking for some server face-time.

If you want to know what tracks people like for servers, then perhaps we could have a 'server recommendation' thread, where everyone could go and recommend good server tracks.
