Why needing a theme at all then? :0
The whole MTC is about giving you some (creative) limitation and see what you can do with it.
"All is free" ist the theme for every other map

We kinda did the "Free for all" thing when we did an endurance MTC in united, the only limitation was that length should be over 3 minutes.

I haven't had a ton of time after haen walked me through stuff to check the suggestions, I'll try to do so today if work is particularly slow or when I get back.

I thought about an idea for a theme: Same Way Transitions
Let me explain:

All blocks are allowed.
No restraints on decoration
Every transition (jump) must be from any type of block to another. Always. You can't reverse the order nor use other transitions than that.

I don't know if that was clear or not so let me give a quick example:
I chose to build Canyon and use GP as my starting blocks and platform as my landing blocks. I shall not do a single transition that doesn't involve those two in that order.
In my example I let the builder choose the blocks. It doesn't have to be that way, you can of course announce the blocks to use to have a more controlled competition.
This theme or very similar ones might have been suggested already.
I don't read the forums that much so I'm sorry if that's the case.

MTC June?

Things got hairy at work and now my sis is here so it'll take a bit to compile the results of May and put up June MTC. I should have something up tomorrow tho.

Why not go for something different?
I'd like to see a MTC where there isn't any restrictions, but rather there would be a real theme.
"In the Shadows", "Sunday Cruise", "Got my head spinning" or "Again and Again"
These themes would be open for more player creativity and I think players would participate more as they can build in their own style.

It'd be very hard to quantify and police, and then there's how most restrictions aren't mutually exclusive with most building styles.
