Computing Shadows  
Computing shadows on a track has never taken my computer any less than 5 minutes, on default settings. :-w
I've decided this can't be normal, so, what would an average computing time be?

I remember it taking 45 minutes on one of my maps on default... Unbelievable.

You must tell me your secrets if you can get it done in 5 mins. Lol :d

that's depends from your computer... For me for an average track, it takes 2 mins max with default option.
If you compute your shadows while playing the game at high settings, it takes you a lot more.

High quality shadows on my low graphics settigns takes 10-15 minutes for me

Its take about 4 minutes on maxed settings and HQ shadow's.

I think you guys have wooden PC's. :p

why would your graphics settings change the time it takes? wouldn't it be your hardware that changes the time?

I just assumed it all depended on the size of the track. I made a track that was nearly 12,000C last week, and the final shadow compute took about 15 minutes.

There are also a lot of in-game factors that can influence the time it takes to compute shadows. It usually takes about two minutes for me (then again I have a high-end Gateway FX series desktop which I recommend if you don't have the time, money or experience to build a custom rig of your own), but I recently built a track that took twelve minutes. It had a ton of spotlights at night. Tunnels will increase computation time, so will overhangs, enclosed spaces, and narrow canyons.
