MP4 UPDATE: Recomputed shadows on ultra quality, no other changes were made.
We're proud to announce that there have been zero casualties in the past two hours!
So this is an interesting course. I was lurking around the new Mania Exchange discord and noticed Snake55Wildcat talking about making a super awesome Canyon wallride course. I thought to myself "Dang, that sounds like fun" and decided to steal his idea and make my own Canyon course. Except in Valley. And without any of the fun wallrides.
Regardless, this course features a lot of speed and a fair bit of stunts, mostly involving an absurd number of items. Unfortunately, this does mean the course has chances to get buggy. Luckily, the chances are lower than you might expect. Due to this, I have no idea how the course will perform in the
April 2017 MTC, which it was built for. At the very least, I hope you have some fun on it.
Features
- Ultra quality shadows!
- Intro, In-Game (GPS and more), Outro, and Podium sequences!
- 9826 coppers of sunset scenery!
- A really steep drop and an even steeper ascent!
- Way too many items!
- CanyonCar on Valley action!
- Modified medal times!
Fun Facts
- Originally, the course was designed to resemble that of a roller coaster; hence the slow approach the drop
- I was originally going to call this "Skull Drop Mountain" because it's a really cheesy name, but also sounds vaguely like something a roller coaster might be called. However, it also sounded too close to the MTC title, Death Drop, so I decided to use another name instead
- The ascent part of the MTC was giving me trouble. That upwards section went through more iterations than any other part
- This course technically works as a multilap, but the drop is too fast on a flying lap; if you don't slow down, you won't be able to accelerate in the chute. As a result, you don't have the desired speed for the following section
- The camera that plays when you start the drop isn't just for kicks. If you were to use Cam 1 or 2 and go off the drop, the camera would clip through the floor. It looks terrible, so I decided to provide the alternative camera you see
Good luck and have fun!
