CCP#13 - Vadvetjåkka, Sweden

Today I, ax.unity, proudly present you my entry for the Christmas calendar project. VADVETJÅKKA is a road trip through the north of Sweden – to be exact Lapland. The national park, which is also known as Vátvécohkka, in the north of one of the most beautiful countries offers a refuge for many animals of the polar region.

THE NATIONAL PARK
It’s your turn now to explore this unique region near the city Kiruna. Your expedition will start at the train station Låktajåkka. From there go by train into the national park, where you expedition car is already waiting for you. 2,630 hectare is obviously way too much to explore in one day, but seeing it already for one day is surely worth the laborious journey to the north. Some signs will obviously help you finding the path, but feel free to leave the intended road and explore the unknown regions.

TRAJECTORY
Like almost all of my maps, this is also a speed map, but it’s something Mania Exchange hasn’t seen before, since VADVETJÅKKA is built around the concept of full speeder in the nature. The overall map layout is quite simple, when it comes to the trajectory, but I wanted to make it finishable for everyone.

SCENOGRAPHY
I spend quite some time on the scenery and MediaTracker, so just take one minute of your time to watch it with the mod and the signs. Making the scenery was consuming most of the time. I did not really know, how to implement a winter atmosphere concerning authentic hills, valleys, and flora. Almost every edge had to be smooth, what triggered me, but at the end, I crafted a sick scenography. I’m actually quite proud of what I made here, especially since I don’t use the editor in TM2 often. The mod I used is Ozon’s insane Advent Calendar mod made for the Advent Calendar 2015. To complete the winter atmosphere I added a soundtrack to the map, I hope I did everything right with the locator file, because it’s the first time I added custom music.

SEQUEL
When I saw that there would be a ccp on mx, I instantly wanted to build a map, because I knew there would be some sick possibilities with custom objects and the Role-playing game and Electronic Sports League title packs, especially regarding atmosphere. Last but not least I want to thank a few people here. First of all I ORNAIM for his piece of art. This thumpnail is probably one of the best I’ve ever seen. Further, I want to thank OZON for making the videos for all maps! It’s great to share the Christmas Calendar Project and its maps. In addition I want to thank FREDAIR for hosting this project, cool to see everyone’s favorite project also on mania exchange where canyon, valley, and lagoon players can participate.
