Today I finally decided to upload a track I've worked on for a little more than 2 months. I've been wanting to build a dirt track which would cover the entire 64x64 area for at least a couple of years or so, and this summer I decided to actually do it. What finally got me started was Shortz' video of Bytigato's track called "Waste of Time". So thanks you two. ^^
Background information:
This track was actually finished back in the 15th of september, the reason why it took so long for me to upload is because I wanted to have a solid GPS for it since the track is so long (above 7 minutes). Unfortunately for me the lenght along with the difficulty of the track made it hard for me to get a solid run without crashing at least once. After a while I gave up and kind of forgot about it.
So now I decided to upload it without a GPS. I figured it's better to just release it rather than keep getting annoyed and let even more time pass. It shouldn't be too much of a problem to find out where to go. Consider this track a small new years gift.
Now to the track itself:
First off, I want this track to be seen as a template for people. A map where people can find new combinations, transitions and so on. Not just another track where you start and finish. In this map in perticular I did my very best to stay original throughout the whole track. And I think I did a pretty good job if I can say so myself. Which may be one reason why people will probably find this track difficult (including me ^^). As the name implies, I want people to take their time and discover rather than just race to the finishline.
I hope this track will make people more imaginative when it comes to building competitive dirt tracks.
A fun fact: there are two places in this track where you can choose to go either straight or a little to the left. In each case, one way is slighty faster than the other. I thought this was a fun thing to implement since it's so long.
It's hard to say exactly how low you can push the time, but it should be possible to set a time of seven minutes twenty something.
I think that's all I wanted to say about this one. Happy new year. =)
