New map! FINALLYYY!
I think I began to build this one last spring. Maybe earlier, I can't remember, because it's faaar too long ago.
Then I almost finished it in October, but now I finally found my motivation again and did the last 5%. And here it is. Easy fullspeeder by night, speed, jumps, drifts, scenery, mediatracker, evething's right there. And it's Canyon of course. Not that I'd never build anything but Canyon, but this one still had to be finished. Next one may be Valley, or Stadium... or Canyon again, who knows?
It's a bit more simple than my other maps, but this is also where the complexity lies this time. It's hard to explain why, but instead of building a transitional and intricate track, I rather focused on making it intuitive and easy to learn, however entertaining and fun to play. I reshaped the route so many times, it really is forgiving now and little mistakes shouldn't keep you from finishing. It nearly doesn't matter how fast you are, it works out smoothly almost every time. If I disregarded the start section I'd even rate this track as 'beginner'. But all this was much more work than expected and caused a more complex building process to achieve a more carefree driving experience. I think it works fine now and you are able to catch the flow from the very first minute. Less transitions, more jumps and easy drifts. Less of a challenge, more of pure race fun.
Building by night isn't the easiest thing, because of the ilumination, but I think the scenery causes enough light and you'll have a clear vision.
I experimented with some dolly-zooms in the intro. What came out is nothing outstanding, but I hope it's interesting to watch. The screenshot is perhaps a little over-edited, but I think it fits well to the map.
Oh, one more thing: It's 661 days since I released
Butterflies in a Hurricane. I think together with
The Very Hungry Caterpillar this one is a very nice ending of the Butterfly-Trilogy that was never meant to be one in the first place. Still it's nice to see it finally completed.
Thanks to
Marti and
JakeOIL for betatesting. You did a great job!
I hope you haven't missed the latest XT-Project that I built together with
Marti and
Taron. Otherwise you'll find it here:
And a showcase of Jake's latest map that is definitely worth a try!
That's it from me. Wish you all the very best and I hope you'll have fun!
Thanks for awarding!
