PlayPal Online is a game server where the tracks of those playing on the server make up the playlist. It works by giving you karma for each track you finish, and when you have the most karma, your track is next to be played.

You can select which of your tracks to include on the PlayPal Online Page.

One final thing, records set on the PPO server also get sent back to ManiaExchange where they are shown on track pages, you will therefore see a new PPO Records window for each track.

Note: The server controller may crash a littile bit, we will try and restart it when we notice. Stability should improve over the coming days.

Regarding Shootmania, some news will come out tomorrow in Canard PC (a french magazine).

This morning we are running some backups for the first time on the new server. This means that unlike a normal backup, we have to do every file (because its the first backup).

This information is just in case there is any adverse affect on site performance.

Here is advance warning that we expect to close down the mania-exchange site today, to enable us to archive the files and perform the migration. The TMX sites have already been closed and are in the process of being copied across.

We are delighted to give the news, that we have just paid €1,293.84 EUR to our existing hosts for a new server on a 1 year contract. This means we have reduced our yearly costs by more than half without having to find a new provider. Of course, our new server is not in the same league as the one we will be leaving, but we are pretty sure it will be sufficent. Part of the reason we can do this is because while technology moves forward at a quick pace, our requirements have not.

In a years time, we will of course have to pay a similar amount of money, so please still consider donating to the site in order to provide for the future. We will in return continue to develop the rewards that we give to people who have donated.

Today is a good day for Mania Exchange and Trackmania Exchange.

Soon we will give news of the pending outage to the sites which will be needed in order for us to perform the data migrations. Please pay attention to any new front page news so that you know when to expect us be offline. We will of course try to make any downtime as short as we can.

We have received approx 1300 Euros in donations, which is fantastic and takes us really close to reaching the goal!

This means Mania Exchange and TMX will not be closing!

But it still leaves us six months off being in the same position again, so we are going to find a cheaper solution for our hosting. This will mean that the money we have raised now can last us for a longer time.

So in about the middle of February the sites will be closed down, maybe for about a week, in order for us to perform the migration, but we will give you advanced warning of when that will happen. We don't really want to do it, because the server we are on is good, the host is good, and it has room for us to continue growing along with the Mania Planet project.

But the decision is about doing something now to make us more sustainable in future.

We have a large 1500 Euro bill to pay by the end of February for another 6 month contract with our hosts. Its a lot of money and we have nowhere near that much in the bank, so we need to ask for donations.

About donating
We usually give some rewards for donators, but these are mostly not ready yet. The development of the site is an ongoing thing and in some ways we have neglected to do the donations update becuase we have worked on other things. However, your 'days of priviliges' will be added to your MX portal account and the 'green title' should work. In the comming days/weeks we will add more special things such as the ability to upload tracks larger than 750Kb, the ability to download more than 1 track at once, and a place in the yet to appear 'MX Supporters tracks' list on the front page.

The site appears have to got itself into some kind of mess, most likely due to gremlins in the system. (I have one particular gremlin in mind)

For the moment its maybe not a good time to upload your new best map, as it will be like it disappeared into a horrible black void, even though its really there.

(Topically, it will be like your own higgs boson, nobody will be able to see it except one or two people who live deep underground).

We will work to resolve things as soon as we can.
