This is my entry for the May MTC of 2019

Theme of the Month: Work in 3+ hidden cuts into your map

So this was pretty much the perfect theme for me and I've been waiting for it to make a comeback for a while already, as finding interesting, fun cuts is one of my favourite things in trackmania. (There has already been a similar MTC theme in 2013)
So I really tried to get the absolute best map I could make out of this and I'm really happy with the result, defintely my best creation yet in my opinion!
The map has a lot of little mechanics and uses a lot of unique block combinations (like driving over parts of blocks which you normally never see in any valley map).
Aswell as that I also tried to make the cuts flow into the normal route as natural as possible. (Not having long sectors where it would be illogical to not place a Checkpoint in the normal route, the cut route looking like normal scenery, making the finding process of the cut route difficult but not unfair etc.)
For some of the cuts there is definitely some block/editor knowledge necessary, f.e. for bug cp's (you might think that nadeo got rid of all bug cp's in valley with MP4 but that's not true ;))
Lastly, I had to use some meshmodeling in this map (mostly for the normal route), however everything that you see here would be possible without meshmodeling aswell (Just using meshmodeling if something doesn't work would of course be a little uncreative as it would make it way too easy to make a map like this).
I used meshmodeling only for scenery or consistency improvements (f.e. there is a small gap that you can fit through in the cut route, normally you would need to bug through it which was possible, but inconsistent, so I widend the gap to make it better to drive (no cp triggers were changed to make bug cp's possible))
(The cut route is 100% consistent.)

There has also been a lot of fine-tuning been done between the normal route and the cut route so that the improvement over the normal route feels organic and that you actually need to drive well in order for the cuts to be faster.

The author time of 1:35.05 is defintely very fast. Any 1:38.xx with using all cuts would already be decent.
The normal route is around 1:45 long with a good run.

On saturday I will upload my AT replay so that the judges know what to judge if they didn't find the cuts on their own, can you find all of the cuts before that?

If the replay doesn't load, shortz made a video featuring the track

Enjoy,
Lars
