How to: Recover password protected maps
A while ago, someone contacted me and asked if I had an opportunity to circumvent Maniaplanet's password protection for the map editor, because he had forgotten the passwords to his old maps and couldn't recover them.

I planned to do this video for quite a while now and now I had the time, I made it.
Here's a step-by-step manual to override Maniaplanet's protection for password protected maps/tracks:

I'm aware that some of you won't be happy seing that kind of "intrusive" information being published but I think, all in all, this practical advice is no endorsement for cheating or stealing, but the only actually available way to rescue maps/tracks which are valuable to you.

Mmm ! People can use that to unlock map you don't people to edit. I think it's a bad idea you release that public. You should just keep it to yourself.

I think exactly the opposite. That's an awesome tool, good for a lot of purposes (forgotten passwords, map converts of inactive mappers, map cutfix/bugfix of inactive mappers and so on), as long as you give the credit to the original mapmaker. And like every single thing in the world, the tool is not the problem, the persons are.

So no, you should not keep it to yourself. I'm glad you shared it.

Agreed, and hugs listed a lot of the reasons why it's a good thing. So far that I've seen stealing maps has not been a serious issue for years and years, I don't remember it ever being an issue really: either it will be very obvious when done, or someone would have to put in a lot of work trying to make it their own, and by that time they could have just made their own map. And it is good that it is publicly known now, so people can expect things just in case.
