Don't blame people for trying to help. He implicitly stated that it was his opinion, which should be taken less seriously than a moderating decision.

I really like this theme though. There will probably be a few edge cases though, one of them being discussed now. My concern: is it enough that the AT shows that you can jump across a checkpoint, or is it necessary that most (if not everyone) can jump through a checkpoint without touching it?

A quick question, in case of a multilap map, does the start/finish line must also be fly-through?

not fair!
No "press[AnyKey]" maps...

so you are forcing us to use a gamepad/mouse/joystick?!

I WILL end you lolig ( 'w')

Is it ok if the CP time is in the air or do you have to avoid any contact with the block?
Minimum CPs?

To the first question, the best way I can put it is "you have to be clearly on air while crossing the checkpoint". My idea is that, in the worst case, your car lands with the back wheels notably after the CP line.

To the second question, you should be thinking of an absolute minimum of 3 CPs. Reason it's not higher is because it's hard to put CPs in Canyon at times. I will update the rules accordingly.

Shouldn't it be 19th of June, not May?

Oh, right. ( 'w')

(That's fixed now)

agidd says:
Another cornercase just to clarify the definition, do we have to fly through the checkpoint line or the whole block?

For example here, can you land on the yellow zone?

Like I say on the answer to fredair in this same post, that's allowed but it has to be the entire car touching ground on the yellow area. If the rear wheels touch the ground on the red area that's a DQ.
Unless you somehow fit a ramp that allows you to catch airtime for the CP on there, but that sounds incredibly unlikely.

It's good as long as you have a clean (not necessarily perfect or even really good) run from the trailing respawn that allows you to cross mid-air. You don't have to account for mistakes made on the vecinity of the checkpoint, but you also have to consider a wide array of skill levels.

Think about a first run when you're considering whether a CP is valid or not.

On rolling laps, yes, as it'd be just like another checkpoint. For the finish it doesn't have to.

For all you non-Stadium builders, xrayjay made a couple embeddable ring CPs a while back for Valley and Canyon. I bet they will be very helpful for this MTC. Note that these are respawn CPs, so you do need to account for that.

Happy building!(y)

Judging 05 June 2016 18:48:57
My first MTC, so I have question :p

1) I don't quite understand how the judging system works, can you explain with more details because people can already look at your map, download them, award them, but who/how does voting work then?

When the deadline arrives I'll provide a voting sheet via Google forms for everyone to vote, and some instructions to get their vote validated.

I have two questions about that:
1.: About the first paragraph: Does that mean that you have to cross the in mid-air even after respawning at the last cp?
2.: About the second paragraph: Should that mean that the people who judge should decide whether the CPs are valid or not? This has been the job of the host so far as far as I know.

1.- Yes

2.- I'll probably take a stance like I did with last month's contest and personally test every map. Don't worry too much about whether or not your map is "good" since if it isn't I'll let you know (hopefully with enough time for you to fix it if possible).

Anyhow, a single judge won't be enough to DQ a map because of not being able to fly through a checkpoint. Like last month, they should report to me and I'll check twice.

Hmm, that makes the track I already built completely invalid :(
But if those are the established rules I'll try to build a new one if I find the time.

One little question, since the track has to be respawnable, do you have to still fly through next checkpoints after every respawn (if driven properly afterwards ofc) ?
