MTC April 2017: Death drop

Welcome to the ManiaExchange Monthly Track Contest (MTC), April 2017.

In the MTC your task is to build a track on a given theme (see below). Later on, all of the entered tracks will be rated and a winner will be found.

  • Theme of the Month: Death drop
Create a track with at least one vertical ascent and at least one vertical descent

    • There's a slight leniency on what "vertical" means, but it has to be a steep enough incline that normal road blocks can't be used for it - either creative usage of decoration blocks or actual walls are required.
    • The height of these inclines has to be of at least 15 blocks, counting from the bottom of the block that starts the vertical ramp (example: quarterpipe blocks, very steep incline objects, certain stadium decorations)
    • Order is not taken into account - you don't need to put the ascent before the descent.

  • Deadline
All tracks should be submitted before the end of Sunday 23, April 2017 PDT.

  • Prize
:gold: Honour and the right to brag! (Jozii used to say that. I hope anyone still remembers him? :p)
:gold: The top 3 winners will receive a showcase of a track of their choice (< 10 awards)

  • General Rules

    • Track-/Laplength below 75 seconds
    • Custom objects allowed
    • Envimixing allowed
    • Blockmixing allowed
    • Custom Titlepacks forbidden
    • No PX tracks
    • MTC should be present in the mapname. Example: MTC.Skyfall
    • 1 map per author

  • How to submit
    • To enter a track, simply upload it and post a link to your submission in the submission thread.
    • You can update your map within the deadline as many times as you want.

  • Judging
We'll use the well well well known public judging system:
    • Everyone is allowed to judge, even players who submitted a map (give your own map a 10)
    • Every map will be judged with marks from 1 (bad) to 10 (gud).
    • Note that you have to judge a stage entirely, you cannot judge only half of it.
More details will appear after submission ends

Good luck, and as always: If you have any questions, please ask :)

What about Loops & Walltubes, where the curved wall is at least 15 blocks high?

Gonna compete

Is tall loops allowed for the verticals?
yes

Yes, loops count. In fact I assumed most people would go for loops.

Do the ascent/descent have to be airtime?

It can be airtime but nah. It has to be vertical or very close to tho.

If you say "close to vertical" it can be interpreted quite differently - could you maybe state a maximum amount of blocks moved forwards in during the vertical 15 block change? Maybe 3 Blocks horizontally?

That's pretty much the room I was thinking of yeah. A 45º incline would be about a 4:1 ratio in stad and I'm looking to get more than that.

I prefer to give the ratio and not a maximum length because a 20 block high steep incline is forcefully longer than the same incline 15 blocks high.

Also worth noting because someone asked in the discord: The slope doesn't have to be constant but it has to always be positive (or negative). You're allowed to build variable slopes as long as the angle of the slope remains greater than 0 degrees and the full descent has a greater than 4:1 ratio.

This could be considered an extension of the measuring rules - ramps in loops do start on the ground or at the ceiling but they are counted from the ramp start.
