MTC June 2018: The Shape of Flow (Results Posted!)

Welcome to the ManiaExchange Monthly Track Contest (MTC), June 2018 hosted by Rexine❤

In the MTC your task is to build a track on a given theme. Later on, all of the entered tracks will be rated and a winner will be found.

Theme of the Month: The Shape of Flow
From a top-down view, the track has to clearly resemble a circle, square, triangle, or parallelogram.

    Rules
    • The shape you choose has to be the outline of the shape only. A width of 2 blocks is acceptable.
    • The route itself has to be driven on the blocks that make up the shape. Jumps that go through the inside of the shape are not allowed.
    • Scenery can be made anywhere, but it can't obscure the shape of the track. To be safe, leave at least a block of empty space in between the track and any scenery outside of it. Scenery made inside the track has to adhere to the same rules as the track itself.
    • The size of the shape and height level of the blocks that make up the shape do not matter so long as it can clearly be recognized from a top-down view.
    • The author time must be longer than 30 seconds.

    Deadlines
    • All tracks should be submitted before the end of Sunday 24th, June 2018 PDT
    • Public voting will go from June 25th to July 8th
    • Results will be published around July 9th

    Prizes
:gold: Honour and the right to brag! (Jozii used to say that. I hope some still remember him? :p)
:gold: The top 3 winners will receive a showcase of a track of their choice (< 10 awards)

    _________________________________________________________

    Examples

    General Rules
    • MTC should be present in the map name. Example: [MTC] Best Map; or Worst Map (mtc); or MTC - A Map (make sure that any special characters do not break in the TM or MX track name)
    • Maximum 1 map per author.
    • Duo tracks are allowed, but each map counts as one track for each author involved.
    • The track should be built in the most recent version of the game available.
    • All environments are allowed
    • Custom objects/items are allowed
    • Blockmixing is allowed
    • Maps that require Openplanet are not allowed
    • Custom titlepack allowed this month: Standard Canyon, Lagoon, Stadium, and Valley editors, Competition Titlepack, MultiEnvironment TPs by Nadeo/Dommy/MrSloppi.
    • Envimixing is allowed this month
    • Press Forward, Left, Right, or similar tracks are not allowed

    _________________________________________________________

    How to Submit
    • To enter a track, simply upload and post a link to your submission here:
      MTC June 2018: Submission Thread
    • You can update your map within the deadline as many times as you want. Though be mindful of replays submitted to your map!
    • You are NOT allowed to update your track after the submisison thread has been closed until the results are released.

    Judging: Public and internal
We will use a 50/50 mixture of the public voting system and the internal judging
    • Everyone is allowed to judge, even players who submitted a map, but the vote for your own map will not count (give your own map a 10).
    • You must have every environment used in the competition to be eligible to vote.
    • Every map will be judged with marks from 1 (bad) to 10 (good).
    • The internal judging will note some detailed feedback with points based on categories (Theme [20p], Creativity [10p], Funfactor [10p], Detailwork/Scenery/MT [10p]).

Good luck, and if you have any questions, please ask!

Here's some more examples about what's acceptable and what's not.

These tracks below are acceptable. It's obvious what kind of shape was intended. If you make a track that kind of looks like a square but also kind of looks like a circle, then it'll probably still be accepted.

Here's another picture of the triangular track from a different angle.

The track below is NOT acceptable. It's obvious that there was no intention of making it into any sort of shape.

Since this theme seems restrictive I'm gonna be more lenient about what will be accepted.

Heh. That makes things a lot more clear, and actually makes it a lot easier. I was assuming something a lot more strict, and was trying to pretty much have a straight line, with all variation being vertical. (In fact, I came here to post a question about how rounded the corners can be--e.g. 2-block wide curve? 3-block wide curve?)

This relaxation of strictness will probably allow a lot more creativity, so it's certainly a good choice, but there's a (masochistic?) part of me that's slightly disappointed... ;)

MTC June Public Voting Link: https://goo.gl/WG42tS

There are 5 MTC entries. Download them all here

NOTE: mtckindofacircle does not fit the theme and won't be included in the voting process.

In the voting sheet, give your score before your feedback (0 to 10, half points are allowed), and then feedback right after it, for example:

# - feedbackfeedbackfeedback...

  • Everyone is allowed to judge, even players who submitted a map (give your own map a 10).
  • Every map will be judged with marks from 0 (bad) to 10 (good). All votes 7+ or 4- and lower require constructive feedback on why you gave it that score.
  • Note that you have to judge a stage entirely. You cannot judge only half of it. If you are not able to finish the map, your vote can still count, but please only leave that as a very last resort, and still judge the entire map fairly.
  • You need to verify your vote by making a post here. (for example: "Voted :done:")
  • One best and one worst vote for each map will be ignored if more than 10 people vote.
  • The overall score will be a 50/50 mixture of the average public score and the average internal score.
  • You must have access to all environments that were used in the MTC and vote for all maps for your votes to count.

A panel of judges will also judge the maps.
This internal voting will follow the format of:
    Theme (20p) | Creativity (10p) | Fun (10p) | Detailwork, MT, Scenery (10p)

All voting will close on July 8th, 2018 at midnight PDT.
