My second submission for
MTC August 2021: 10th Anniversary Campaign Remix!
The map takes "
Canyon D14 by Ubisoft Nadeo from the campaign, adds a roll, tweaks many scenery details of it, adds new blocks, reintroduces you to an iconic loop from TrackMania Turbo's third map, and ends the route going on top of some original scenery blocks.
I know TrackMania Turbo is not part of this MTC theme and the 10th anniversary of TM2 Canyon, but I felt like including the very first loop from that game - which fit to the map perfectly - to make the original Finish connect with the original scenery platform roads above. This looping was the first thing that came to my mind, and I'm happy with how the end result ended up fitting perfectly just as I imagined it! Credit has to be given to
PapyChampy, the mapper of so many campaigns and insane amount of quality maps! So even if Turbo feels little bit out of place right now, I felt like including something official instead of making up such a large part by myself, which might not have even been that good. This is definitely better like this, and I'm happy to throwback to two different games at once.
I chose this map because I hunted it for quite a while a few weeks ago, and when I failed making the precise turn to the right after the start fullspeed/nodrift/noslide (you might need to do it that way to get a fast time), I usually just yeeted out at the side of the cliff, rolled, and landed back at the platform almost perfectly. So failing to do the turn and going outside gave me the idea to force the roll on my remix. Although, I have to admit it's quite hard to get the roll consistently and to nail it perfectly for the first few dozen of attempts. Maybe it's worth sliding on the cliffside sand just a little bit, right before rolling. Anyway, try experimenting! You can still drift the turn before the roll just like the original map allowing you to do both fullspeed and drift. Lastly I have to say that there might even be a way to land faster without rolling, but I don't care anymore if there's an exploit to that stunt found, it's a silly remix.

Generally, my tip is to aim for the inside near the barrier and hope for the best!
You might notice that I went nuts with my custom block/item names, but the truth is I was never consistent with my naming scheme ever since the meshmodeler came out, so I just go crazy with it nowadays, as usual by my silly self at this point.
