Hello I have a question. I love TM2 and have downloaded a few skins and a lot of tracks for canyon and stadium but what's the deal with mods?
I downloaded the sonic mod Your text to link here... and I thought I just could load a track and then race it whit the sonic skin. but I don't see it anywhere. I put it in skins > canyon > mods but what to do now and what to do whit it? Is it possible to reskin tracks I already have or do I have to make a track and then can use the sonic skin? Please give me some help I can't find any on the web.

Put the zip and loc files in Documents\ManiaPlanet\Skins\Canyon\Mod\

Do NOT unzip the zip file. Just move it to that folder.

Restart your game.

When you go to create a track, you will be asked to select a texture mod as well as the mood of the track.

If you want to modify an existing track's mood or apply a mod, then hold CTRL when you select the track to edit.

But you can't just "play a track" with a mod. The track either has the mod built in with it in the editor or it doesn't. It's not like car skins.

For the editor, use hold Ctrl when selecting a map, and then you can pick a mod, then you can play a map with the mod (so long as it was not a passworded map..... but you cant just apply a mod to a map outside the editor.

You can apply a mod to a replay though. Hold CTRL when you select the replay and keep holding while you select "Advanced Editor". It'll let you select mood and mod. And then you can compute lightmaps on it (the lightbulb at top left). And then re-save the replay, exit the replay editor, select the replay again... and this time choose "play" and you can play against your modded replay.

I download the files for the mods and put them in like you showed Documents/skins/stadium/mods and they still don't work

when going to making new map the mods do not show up it goes right to select sunset day ect.

yes my folder says Mod is it supposed to be lower case ? M otherwise I have it put in right it just doesn't show up

No, mine is capital M. But when you wrote you said you put it in mods.

So, it seems you're correct. You don't get asked which mod to use when first creating a map.

When you go to create a map, you're only asked for the mood (day, sunset, etc).

What you can do is go ahead and save the map, and then when you go to open it in the editor again hold CTRL and it will let you re-select the mood and then let you choose the mod.
