my toughts on Lagoon
Well i must say Lagoon is a very nice picturesque title pack so full marks there :award: :award:

*** the tracks i have played so far . wow! hasn't the game changed over ten years of playing track-mania so full marks there also :award: :award:

*** now i know it is very new and there maybe a few bugs and glitches here and there so i fully expect that ( not that i found any )

*** now the downside :( :( .

Now I'm old school and i use a keyboard for my game-play control and i noticed very quickly that the car control is very sensitive and it feels it makes the car almost uncontrollable. so i plugged in my Xbox controller and restarted the game and noticed once again that even with a brand new game pad controller the car sensitivity is also making it uncontrollable. Now with my keyboard and game-pad settings i have very little sensitivity as i want to feel the car and be able to do what i do when racing in-game.

I also feel with over 20 years of online gaming experience ( if i can call it that ) Track-mania Lagoon feels like it's simulation rather than arcade and I'm comparing that to Stadium,Canyon,Valley of the updated MP4 game-play, so i think it's something that needs to be taken into consideration and i feels it needs to be fixed. now if the powers at be with the game development is taking Track-mania to a simulation level of control for all of it's current titles ( Stadium, Canyon , Valley and now Lagoon ) I'm going to highly consider walking away from the game altogether as me personally not a fan of simulation racing games ) . I don't know if anyone else feels the same way as i do about Lagoon and if you do it would be nice to read what you have to say, now before all you haters of negative comments start posting your unthoughtfulness comments towards my opinions i stated above can i recommend you leave it to yourself as I'm only stating my personal opinions of the game

Only stating my personal opinion as well...

I love the handling of Lagoon. I feared the worst when I heard ppl talking about TMT and during the Beta, but as a Keyboard player I have to say it's very controlable. On slow-ish wide turns a controller might be more ideal, but I'm not much further behind the top players in Lagoon compared to any other environments.

I will certainly admit that Lagoon is very touchy. When you turn, you commit to the turn because there is no wide turn option. I think I have to thank Island and Bay back in United for giving me the skills needed to learn Lagoon as fast as I did; as a keyboard player, turns generally turn into rhythmically tapping the arrow keys to get the right radius. Back in Bay you'd slide out of control if you went too tight, so learning to control your turn radius was essential for getting the Gold times.

Personally, I love lagoon. It's fast speeds and tight turns as well as odd drifting mechanics make it a very challenging and rewarding vehicle to drive. That doesn't mean that anyone else has to like it, though. If you aren't a fan of the absurdly tight turns and very different asphalt/sand handling, then that's fine. It's touchiness is why I like it and that same reason is why others don't; it's all preference, really.

The one thing I disagree with is calling the handling simulation-esque. I think the Lagoon car turns way to sharp way to fast to be even close to a simulation (that's just me being nitpicky about terminology), but I can certainly agree that it feels very different from its other TM2 brethren. I can also assure you that the other TM2 vehicles will never have a change drastic enough to bring them close to the feel of the Lagoon car: that's part of what makes TrackMania great, after all, every vehicle feels very distinct from the next. Besides, it would be a terrible decision for Nadeo to change the vehicles so drastically (even the very minor changes in MP4 had notable backlash). As for TrackMania's future, I can't say I know how the next vehicle will handle. I will say that I highly doubt that it will be as touchy as the Lagoon car, as this seems to be the upper limit of tight, instantly responsive controls. If you're worried that the next car will be like Lagoon, I wouldn't be.

The problem I have with Lagoon handling is that (especially on sand) you cannot compensate after you made a turn (I'm playing with a keyboard FYI). If I turn a little bit too much and want to correct, tapping the other arrow just sends me off course. And with the amount of rock/tree/micro-jump/other sh*t on the map (don't get me wrong, I love the scenery), it means the race is over pretty quickly if I make one small tiny mistake. I don't mind when mappers do unforgiving maps if that's what they like. But having a full environment that is unforgiving, it's a little bit hard to swallow...

It could have been a great environment if the sand and wood were not so tricky!

The game play as always been so in TM , fisrtly you think it's nearly uncontrolable , after hours playing you gradualy get the control and discover that it's great , since the first trackmania ! Tm teach you what is "Skill" .

on a second plan some environements may feel better with a pad . i played all the environements since the first playable demo and it alway have been so , to me it's exactely what make Tm being TM !
the sand block are really difficult for me too , but after a few months on turbo i get better and better as for every precedent environements !

train yourself , pilot agressive and fine , trust yourself , you will get good !!!

the game play is the best thing in TM , be patient you will be satisfy , really ;)

Well said boitaroulettes. (y)

I feel the same, based on experience with past environments. Coast especially springs to mind. Couldn't drive that environment at all the first time I tried it. =p
