MTC March 2018: Results

Apologies for the delay, but results are ready! :d

:gold: First place goes to   Lars with Quartet!

  • The track suits both car physics and the final part really showcases their differences. - Voyager006
  • A technical course exceptionally well tuned for both vehicles. - Arkive

:silver: Second place goes to   eyebo with Tangled!

  • It's quite a fast track, but without being white knuckle driving. - BushMonkey
  • The longest one in the pack but it's still entertaining! - Voyager006

:bronze: Third place goes to   pjw with Evil Twin!

  • This was thoroughly enjoyable. - Arkive
  • It's quite a fun one to tackle. - Voyager006

    This month's runners-up:
4."[MTC] Cliff Rider by   Trackmaniadude (A very close 4th place, with a margin of 0.41)
    5."MTC - VersuS by   XtremJinX
6."{MTC} Track and Stone by   aurovee

Lars, eyebo and pjw each receive one front page track showcase of their choice (having less than 10 awards)

Full results and feedback can be found here!

Thank you to everyone who participated! Thanks to our internal judges and public voters, and thank you to Arkive for calculating results.

Those of you who participated are free to release a 2nd version of their track with the secondary car now that judging and results are done.

Despite its restrictions and difficulty, I hope everyone enjoyed this month's contest.
Good luck to the many of you participating in MTC April 2018.

I would be only slightly miffed at my last place... But I want to call Lars' votes out as possibly unfair, and possibly the only reason why he won this month's MTC. I don't feel like he gave enough constructive critique on the maps he voted very low on, and the one map he did a decent vote with was still low.

    A couple of observations:

    1) If you were to throw out public judging altogether, you would have gotten 5th place instead of last place, and Lars still would have won.

    2) If, alternately, you were to just throw out Lars' voting entirely, you still would have gotten 5th instead of last, and he still would have gotten second place.

Lars seems to be more cranky and critical than others, and his scoring window is shifted lower because of that, but it doesn't make that much difference overall. (Also, Lars actually gave you more helpful feedback than I did.)

In my opinion, it would be a lot more productive for you to consider the feedback you received (both public and from the site judges) instead of trying to make this about someone else. You obviously don't have to agree with that feedback, but it gives you an idea of what five people liked or disliked, and why your track didn't score as highly as others in this competition, subjective as that may be.

(Also, c'mon dude, this is a monthly video game track contest on the internet. There's another one every month. Breathe. Unclench.)

Well, I guess when I saw it, I was only just waking up, and so I didn't quite catch those bits... And in fact, knowing that his vote knocked me from potentially 5th place to last is something I would rather not know.

You continue to focus on the wrong thing. I'm going to try once more and then shut up. :)

Lars won because he made a track that others enjoyed. Your track was not as well-liked, so you didn't do as well.
    That's it. It's not complicated.

If you would "rather not know" things, then you probably should have taken a bit more time waking up before posting.

I plan on making an MTC showcase for the March MTC, but due to its odd nature I'm going to need replays for both vehicles on each map. If you think you've got good times on some of the maps, please feel free to send them to me! You can also upload the primary vehicle times to the normal track pages, as I'll still be taking replays from there.

Congrats to Lars for the victory and good efforts from the other contestants - I enjoyed playing your maps and figuring them out (y)

During the judging, I recorded my first and best runs on each map in an effort to provide more extensive feedback. So here they are for anyone interested:
