Initial feeling of the "first new title"
As before, when the custom-blocks finely arrived at the stage, I was super exited... This new title Here just totally disappointing me in one way, but in some other way kept up my excitement for what is possible.... If we compare the easy to get, and implement in new tracks, by the work and innovation of arc, to the complicated process of making new blocks available in tracks via the now implemented "new objects (i.e. blocks)only via new titles", it just sucks imo...... I feel that the custom blocks maker by arc, and all the promising simplicity about it, was effectively killed by Nadeo, by introducing the "Bigger and better picture" by the "object via titles" idea....

Now, by have to makes titles, which is, in fact, a good idea, if it could go hand in hand with the "just new blocks imported into standard Canyon environment" without the need for making titles, I feel it is just for the more skilled developer among us, and not for the common racer and mapmaker, like me, without any deep computer skills.......

One reason for this big disappointment for me, was the fact that, this first title, imo, did not brought anything new to the game, that could not be acquired by just a simple mod alone..... As far as I could see, there was no new blocks there, and really nothing at all that could not been done with the original canyon by simply use a mod.....

Correct me if my feeling is wrong, but I just had to voice this mixed feeling about what i have been waiting for, for so long..... I might have overlooked something..... 8-|

That's not the first custom title. ;)

Stunters was the first.

And it has some custom objects that are great for stunting. Especially the mushroom object.

I've heard rumblings that ManiaPark will release their own title with some objects. That would be great. To be honest, the freedom of how you can place objects mean they are, in most cases, much more flexible to use than blocks. I've seen what a few very creative authors have done with the pillar objects provided by Nadeo in the Elite Exp title pack and I'm extremely impressed with the creative potential.

True, it's harder now for individual users to test out new objects without them being already included in a title pack, but I think the trade off is worth it, because it means there's consistency between all players who use that pack. You don't have to worry if the user you send the map to has the object or not. If he's playing in the title with you, then he has the objects.

Then u overlooked the " "..... ;)
Haven`t tried the stunt title yet, but I`ll give it a try.

Well, we did not had to worry before with the custom blocks also, coz, the link to download the used custom blocks would be provided by the author of the track.... And the track would be useless without it.... But I agree that the object, as not being bounded to the grid, will be more flexible, which is great. My only concern is the skill level it takes to do all the title stuff and the limitation that will give to the community....

When I tested the other title, it was kind of great, but since it`s so new, it was no opponent to race against, and in track that long, with lack of proper directional signs, it was a pain to drive. Hopefully it will be updated later on....

Will titles be supported here on MX ? I mean, to download titles, make track in it and upload here. If so, then it will contribute to a huge variety of tracks and racing style and environment..... That would just be awesome ! :p

Go into the editor in the stunters title and click on the tree icon down by the same icons where you find blocks and macroblocks. The tree icon is for objects.

I agree that the freedom to place objects much more flexible then bounded to the grid is great... (l) But ur second statement about consistency and not having to worry about other user have that particular object is a bit overstated. It is in fact as now... Even I have raid already, when i try to download a replay from another player to race against, I still get the message; u need the object xxxx to play this track... coz lack of specific metadata in the pack to identify a title, it still opens .gbx files automatically in Canyon.... So, it could easily be like that with ordinary track made in canyon and with new object also. As of now, the title does not make any difference imo, as far as i can see now, after playing the titles since they was released. It`s just more complicated to be able to use new object in tracks and upload here on MX, having to release it as a title. It is more time-consuming in it`s building stage, and more time consuming in its maintenance stage after release. And when we know most of the players are busy with they're job, family, education etc., then it`s not hard to understand it slows down the release of new tracks with new object....

And what if i want to make just ONE track with new objects? Then i have to make a title for it ! ! ! And when we know the total amount of slots for new titles is 3, and then to be able to install new titles, we have to buy 3 new for the amount of 5000 planets ! ! ! How many u think will do that just to play a new track from a player with some new objects ? ? ? This, imo, sucks.....

Everything I see and experience in the title RAID could easily be done in canyon. It`s different with Stunters, coz it`s a different racing game and based on point in stead of time. It would be different if Nadeo had a complete "title solution" ready, where everything needed was there, including metadata for separation of each title, and if new slots for new titles was totally free. But, as of now, they don`t have. And as we know Nadeo, it might take quite a time for them to make it work.

Now, all this taken into consideration, what is the big benefit of titles compared to just new objects in canyon ?
