My contribution to SCL this year!
For this year I decided to build a more difficult map than I usually do. "Distant Structures" is technical and diverse, a mercyless mix of fast and slow sections which flow into each other in unusual ways. It offers a little bit of everything, combined into one package: Long corners, short sweepers and a whole lot of elevation changes thrown in. This map will be a real challenge and is certainly not for everyone.
Just like the track, the scenery is a bit more on the experimental side. The "identity" of the scenery are the wallride blocks on a single pillar, which creates an interesting parallax-effect while also being fairly cheap on the display cost.
I'm probably most proud of the subtle amount of blockmixing. There are a lot of small alterations all over the maps. Barriers, bumps, kerbs and edges were removed to make the player's experience a little bit smoother, while still keeping the look of the vanilla game for the untrained eye (for the most part).
