Hey
ManiaExchange!
We're happy to present this map as one of the two maps for the 25th day of the
Christmas Calendar Project 2020, which is hosted by
vdgzr this year.
This map has a long history, so buckle up: It started as a map by
Solux which was intended to be a part of the StarTrack² campaign as the track D08. As the campaign progressed, the map didn't fit as well with the other maps from the campaign as expected, so we (Arkes and Solux) decided that it would be best to not include it in the campaign, leaving a map with a mostly finished route and some scenery.
The story continues when
DdariQ found the map and offered to take it upon himself to get the map to a finished state and find a good place to release it. He completely changed the start and finish to make the map more suitable for hunting, improved some of the transitions to make them more consistent and introduced various improvements along the way, including adding additional scenery.
He then also gathered two more people who helped get this map to where it is now:
Hazard. and
sláys.wp, who both graciously offered their assistance with this map.
sláys.wp continued where
DdariQ left off and improved the scenery, changing some things, filling in gaps and creating a nice landscape around the map. Then,
Hazard. put the metaphorical icing on the cake, creating a great intro, in-game MT and some sick screenshots. Finally,
Solux validated the map to finish off the project. Let's also not forget
thaumictom, who helped out
eFFecT making the video featuring this map for the CCP, which will you can find at the bottom of this author comment.
This brings us to the present again: The map is a mixed-style & -surface track of medium to advanced difficulty that is easy to finish but hard to master (just mastering the start alone is actually quite challenging already). It might take some practice to get a time below 54s and if you manage to get below the 53 second mark, hats off to you. There are some small transitions sprinkled in here and there to keep things as interesting as possible and some sections get progressively harder the faster you are to keep the challenge level high all the way from the first run to a full hunting session. There also is a GPS included of course, to get you an overview of how to drive the map if you're starting out and don't feel like exploring.
The map was updated on 11th of January 2021 to fix the MediaTracker so that the map can be played on servers. The replays have been backed up and are available here:

That concludes this way too long author comment. We hope you'll enjoy this map as much driving as we enjoyed creating it and wish you happy and safe holidays!
