Okay, so I've driven a lot of really nice tracks with hardly any awards (see my awards list). And I've also driven some less than good tracks. But I just drove a map that took the cake. I think it's the result of building an entire map without testing or modifying any parts.

I'm sure I'll run across some others like it. I'm just surprised it took me until ID 454 to run across a map this bad.

In all fairness, I tried this guy's 2nd and 3rd maps and they're better. ;)

hahaha  You're right I only did one run.

Now I have to beat you. :p

Edit: Done. ;) 2:05.996
Ok, the map isn't as bad as I thought. But... eh... still pretty bad. :p
Mostly I kind of see that the author actually probably intended some things that didn't look intended originally.

I got really lucky at the finish with that cut. :p I don't think I could pull it off again.

Ahh yeah, I remember this one well^^ Concerning my time I did actually not have the will to drive it properly...I want to finish this project and therefore I cannot afford "wasting" 30 minutes or more on one map.
Though I am not able to keep up with you, eyebo, as I got a lot to do for school at the moment^^ But easter holidays will come soon 8-|

About this project... doesn't it make early maps get more attention than deserved compared to newer ones...? Many "first maps" are already very overrated if you ask me... ;)

First of all, I don't believe you can say one map deserves more attention than another. That's totally subjective.

Many of the first maps didn't even have replays compared to the later ones, because the replay system wasn't added until some months later. So this is more like balancing things out and giving these early tracks a chance at some LB compared to the unfair advantage newer ones have at cranking up a higher LB rating.

Tracks get awards based on whether they're good or not. When they're uploaded shouldn't matter.

The goal in this project is to drive all tracks. You don't have to wait until they come up in the rotation to try newer ones. I regularly try newer maps too, though I usually don't go straight to the maps in best of the week. The more newer tracks I drive, the less of those I'll have to re-drive later, so it all goes towards the same end.

For me, the project has basically three goals:

o To find unknown gems in the track database. This starts with an award. But I will also eventually host them on my server. I don't award tracks based on how they look or how much the author built. I award purely based on how fun they are to drive and if I think they would make a good server map or not.

o To challenge myself on driving quirky or strange tracks that I might not otherwise drive. This is in an effort to expose myself to a greater variety of track making styles.

o To post replays on every map on MX. Even if I don't take the time to comment or think the track is worthy of an awar... a replay still shows that I took the time to drive it and cared enough to upload a time. It should give the author some satisfaction to know their track building efforts were not in vain, but that someone took the time to drive on their creation.

Driving old tracks is nothing new for me. I've always looked through the ancient tracks of these sites. On TMX, I spent over a year driving tracks from TMO, TMS, and TMN on my server in TMUF. Did that stop me from also trying new tracks on TMUF? No, but I think it gave me a broader picture of how track making has evolved. I feel like I missed some months of that evolution in TM2 because of being sidetracked with other things. This project will allow me to gain that knowledge.

Most of all, it's just a lot of fun. :d I turn up the DnB and go track after track setting and uploading times.

Thanks for commenting on the project though wormi. Your interest is gratifying.

@Buddha You'll probably enjoy having me ahead of you as you have a time to beat (if you wish to). I know I enjoy seeing NKAc_Street's replays on every map. It gives me that extra push sometimes to do an extra run or two and take the WR, at least if its a map I like. I'm glad to see you doing the project and it's always great to see your times on maps. :d

It's always nice to have a time to refer to, but in most cases (especially tech) you're way ahead of me. Then I could try to beat you, but that would take a lot of time. And I don't have it^^
