MTC March 2018: Multi-Class Racing (Results on Page 2)

Welcome to the Monthly Track Contest (MTC) for March 2018, hosted by PangoLynne!

In the MTC your task is to build a track on a given theme. Later, all the entered tracks are rated and a winner is found.

Theme of the Month: Multi-Class Racing
Build one track with a single route driveable by 2 vehicles from different environments.

    Theme Specific Rules
    • 30 seconds minimum length.
    • A track must be driveable with 2 vehicles from different environments.
      Examples:
Canyon Base with Canyon car + Stadium car.
      or
Lagoon Base with Valley car + Canyon car.
      or
      Any other combination.
    • The driving route must be similar for the two vehicles, but it doesn't need to be identical.
    • Submit one track with the primary vehicle. In the author comments, list the secondary vehicle.
    • The track must not have a password in order for judges to drive the track with its 2nd vehicle.
    • In order to install a multi-environment titlepack to build for this MTC, you will need to own all four environments.
    • Unfortunately, due to the nature of this MTC, tracks with the Stadium base aren't possible. However, the Stadium car is still usable on other environments.

    Allowed:

    Not Allowed:
    • All other TitlePacks besides the ones listed above.
    • Press Forward, Left, Right, or similar tracks

    General Rules
    • You may submit ONE TRACK maximum.
    • Duo tracks are allowed; but each map counts as one track for each author involved.
    • MTC should be present in the track name. Example: Duel (MTC); or [mtc] One&Two;
or MTC - Go Again (check that any special characters do not break in the TM or MX track name).
    • The track should be built in the most recent version of the game.

    Tips
    • To change the vehicle on an existing track, hold Ctrl while selecting the track in the menu.
    • Try to keep the two driving routes as similar as possible, and only divert if necessary.
    • Make sure the route is clear for both vehicles.
    • If a route separates, feel free to use different signs for each route, such as these from the MX Sign Pack or any other set of signs, as long as it's clear to drivers.

    Deadlines
    • Your track should be uploaded before the end of Sunday March, 25 at midnight PT
    • Public voting will begin on March 26th
    • Results are calculated the week of April 1st

    Prizes
:gold: Honour and the right to brag! (Jozii used to say that. I hope some still remember him? :p)
:gold: The top 3 winners will receive a showcase of a track of their choice (< 10 awards)

    How to Submit
    • To submit a track, upload it to MX and post a link to your submission here:
      MTC March 2018: Submissions Thread
    • You can update your track within the deadline as many times as you want.
    • After results have been released, you may update your track, and upload the track again with the 2nd vehicle if you like.

    Judging: Public and internal
We will use a 50/50 mixture of the public voting system and the internal judging
    • Everyone is allowed to judge, even players who submitted a track, but the vote for your own track will not count (give your own map a 10).
    • You must have access to all environments and vote for all tracks for your votes to count.
    • Every track will be judged with marks from 1 (bad) to 10 (good).
    • The internal judging will note some detailed feedback with points based on categories (Theme [20p], Creativity [10p], Funfactor [10p], Detailwork/Scenery/MT [10p]).

Good luck, and if you have any questions, please ask!

It'd probably be best to clear this up as soon as possible: what do you mean by "The driving route must be similar for the two vehicles, but it doesn't need to be identical?" How different can the routes be before they're considered too different? Also, suppose OpenPlanet gets publicly released this month: would that change your ruling on available bases to include Stadium or not? And, finally, would you be okay with posting a second track for ease of judging/playing, or would the potential differences make it too unreliable to officially allow?

Good point, I'll try and explain it the best I can, as it can be quite subjective. If a track has entirely different routes for the two cars, it won't be disqualified from the MTC, but it may be marked down for its theme, as the idea is to have the route as similar as possible between the two cars. In fact, I will add that to the list of tips.

For simplicity's sake, even if OpenPlanet is released very soon, the current rules will still apply.

It's been discussed whether or not to have both tracks submitted, and having just a single track erases the need to check the entire track between both versions, and I've been told that changing the driving car only wouldn't change the map UID, so it wouldn't really work to upload anyway.

Alright, thanks for clarifying! (y)

For the sake of a couple more tracks being added late, I'm extending the deadline until 12 midnight Pacific time (PT)
Which is 3 hours from the time of this post.

I can't believe that on the last day, the number of tracks made for this doubled. Means the odds of me getting into the top three are slashed from guaranteed to... Well, less than guaranteed.

There are 6 MTC entries.

In the voting sheet, give your score before your feedback (0 to 10, half points are allowed), and then feedback right after it, for example:

# - feedbackfeedbackfeedback...

  • Everyone is allowed to judge, even players who submitted a map (give your own map a 10).
  • Every map will be judged with marks from 0 (bad) to 10 (good). All votes 7+ or 4- and lower require constructive feedback on why you gave it that score.
  • Note that you have to judge a stage entirely. You cannot judge only half of it. If you are not able to finish the map, your vote can still count, but please only leave that as a very last resort, and still judge the entire map fairly.
  • You need to verify your vote by making a post here. (for example: "Voted :done:")
  • One best and one worst vote for each map will be ignored if more than 10 people vote.
  • The overall score will be a 50/50 mixture of the average public score and the average internal score.
  • You must have access to all environments and vote for all maps for your votes to count.
  • When judging, make sure to drive the tracks with the PRIMARY and SECONDARY vehicles. No more or less than the two.

A panel of judges will also judge the maps.
This internal voting will follow the format of:
    Theme (20p) | Creativity (10p) | Fun (10p) | Detailwork, MT, Scenery (10p)

All voting will close on April 1st, 2018 at midnight Pacific Time.

Also, to all judges, please note the extra guideline in the voting sheet:
When judging, make sure to drive the tracks with the PRIMARY and SECONDARY vehicles. No more or less than the two.
