Hello ManiaExchange!
I haven't made a track since over a year, and my last Canyon track is now almost 5 years old. Incredible how time passes. I haven't been playing TrackMania a lot the past years, but now I've been trying to get back to it, so consider this to be my glorious comeback!
Anyways, here's my new map. It's noslide fullspeed, pretty much the style I've typically been building already 5 years ago. I don't know if people still like these kind of maps, but it doesn't matter, here is it, so take it.
Most of the track was done in one session of a couple of hours. What then took really long was finding a good ending and building the scenery. The track is in theory fully respawnable, but I highly recommend you to not do that cause then the track plays more like a really poor RPG map. I kind of got carried away with making scenery already in the process of just track design, and then when I was done with the track I had to continue the scenery in that style, so it ended up pretty big and it took up a lot of time.
This is the first time I've used custom objects in a map. I saw these being used a lot while I was away from the game and it had to be explained to me how to work with them, since I missed pretty much every new development in ManiaPlanet since like 2013. I don't know if I did everything correctly, but the track seems to be working from what I can tell. If not, yell at me in the comments and I'll try to fix it.
I would like to thank everyone who puts up TrackMania content on YouTube regularly, for allowing me to see everything new going on with the game even without playing it myself for the past years and eventually probably motivating me to play it myself again. Also thanks to all the FT guys, especially eyebo for redirecting me to resources and explaining how to use objects, and Lodec and Mandark for betatesting the track. I would also like to thank kamakaze for making me build this style in the first place. I was originally trying to make a speedtech map and didn't really get anywhere with it, and then kama made a joke about me making a transitional FS map with the new objects, and immediately after he said that, I started building this track. This is the first time since very long that I've actually managed to finish a track, so that really counts for something!
