It is a good idea I think.
Actually what you/we have to do is spread the word and tell everyone who uploads videos of themselves driving/videos of their tracks to add the tag 'mx' and 'tmx' to their videos and also a link to mx.
A mx-video would be great of course. But do we really have good video artists here on mx? I don't know.. ^^

The first two years I played TM (Nations and United) were without knowing TMX, so I really like that idea. :B

The video for TMX is long gone. The website which hosted it went offline. I'll have to speak to Benji to see if Innoweb (who produced it) still have a copy.

I've already written about MX on the Welcome thread in ManiaHome... on several occasions. That's a topic that everyone who starts playing Canyon sees.
Actually, a video for TMX was already made some years ago (before I started playing). It used to be on the portal page for TMX. I'm not sure what happened to it, or if you can watch it anywhere. Maybe Forzyy would have a better idea about that.
But I don't really think I have the visual fx savvy to make a suitable video for MX (not yet anyway). But I could always try.
You're right about the fact that a lot of users don't know about the site. The thing is, if they're not the kind of user who would check the forums for information about track sharing sites, I'm not sure why they'd be the kind of user to randomly find us on YouTube.
There's a topic for MX under the "Track Editor" forum on ManiaPlanet forums... and if you ask online on just about any server "where can I share some of the tracks I've made?"... there's a very good chance someone will tell you about MX. So it's not that hard to find, if you're looking.
Still, a little promotional video would be cool and fun. It certainly wouldn't hurt anything.
